  • why not play an open D? no stretching needed

  • @thebassbass well i consider it to be a stretching exercise, as well as a scale exercise - but yes it works either way :)

  • @thebassbass If one eliminates the use of open strings it makes a scale easier to transpose to another key. To a lesser degree of importance an open string has a slightly different tone than the enharmonic fretted note. I sometimes choose to play or avoid open strings based solely on the tone rather than ease of playing.

  • so every major pentatonic scale has the same scale degrees 1-2-3-5-6? and minor just flattened the 3rd and 6th right?

  • is it possible to use a pentatonic scale in a chord progression if so how? or do i use the 1 3rd and 5th of the pentatonic scale? p.s i have that bass
