LOVES TRUE FORM A JONAS BROTHERS LOVE STORY CH 28

Looking around her room Hazel picked up a pillow and held it up to her face. Screaming she heard someone knock on her door.
"Hey, uh, can I come in?"
"Sure Nick." Hazel sighed clearing a space for him on her bed.
"Look. I should have told you about Megan..."
"And I should have told you about this." Hazel got to her feet and rolled up the bottom of her shirt to reveal the "NJ" Tattoo.
"Oh my-" Nick traced the outline of the tattoo.
"I know. I shouldn't have... I just.."
"No need to explain. Hazel, Joe, there's something you should know."
"What?"
"Well... He, he says he doesn't want anything to do with you anymore."
"What- Why?" Hazel asked sitting back down confused.
"Well, because. He found this." Nick pulled a letter out of his pocket and handed it to Hazel. She recognised Nicks writing, and XANTHES.
Correction, it wasn't a letter, just notes.

HEY XAN, WHAT'S UP WITH HAZEL LATELY?
Oh, well... she misses you.
HER FAULT.
Harsh, but true. She really does love you.
WHAT ABOUT JOSEPH?
She likes him too... she just says she could never take him, he's 'second best'
HARSH.
No, just heartache.

Hazels eyes welled up with tears. They seemed to do that a lot lately. "When the hell did you write this?"
"Remember when we were all working on those essays for english?" Nick asked looking away.
"Yeah, Joe and I were having a texta fight."
"Yeah, that was about the time we wrote that."
"Oh. You know, I think I'm falling in love with Joe?" Hazel half asked.
"Oh, I'm happy for you."
"And I'm happy for you too! Megans really great. You two look wonderful together."
"Yeah." Nick agreed with a smile.
"Have you told her yet?"
"Have I told her what?" Nick looked up confused.
"That you're in love with her?"
"Oh, not yet." His voice was flat and again he looked away.
"Anyway, you should probably go." Hazel sighed.
"Why?"
"Because your dad's been pulled up on the side of the road for the last ten minutes and unless you want to walk three towns away, I think you'd better make sure you're in the car before he leaves."
"Makes sense."

Hazel looked out her window as the Silver SUV drove away. She would never know just how much Nicks heart broke when she admitted how she felt, or how he felt when he saw the tattoo. Nick preffered it that way, well.. That's what he said at least.

Saturday rolled around and Hazel put on a pair of Black skinny jeans and a yellow shirt, they were only going to a movie.
"Joe?" Hazel pushed as they exited the theatre two hours later.
"What Hazel?"
"You still haven't forgiven me."
"What for?"
"You know what for. I was hurt okay. I said some stupid things that nobody was supposed to hear."
"Yeah, point is you said them didn't you?"
"Yeah, but Joe. I didn't mean for you to hear what I said."
"Oh, strange, because that really doesn't make me feel any better."
"JOSEPH!" Hazel sobbed as he walked away.
"Hazel. We're done. I'm through pretending. I'm done playing games. Tell me you don't love me and I'll walk away for good. Just say it.... PLEASE!"
"Joe... I can't."
"Why not. You're twisted, you're manipulative, you use people you're spineless... Why can't you say exactly what I need you to say?"
Hazel looked down at her feet. The pain unbearable. Her heart was breaking, she swore it would pound through her chest and explode. She had to tell him, she wasn't ready, she couldn't help it though.
"I can't say it, because I can't lie."
"You can't lie?" Joe asked stopping dead in his tracks.
"I can't lie. Joseph. I want it to mean something when I say it."
"So, you don't?"
"I'm not saying I don't. I'm saying I'm not ready to feel like this again."
"Well... You do though, right?"
"Yes, Joseph I do." Hazels smile quickly disappeared when she saw what was coming.
"JOE!!!" She screamed as she raced over to where he lay. The right side of his head barely destinguishable from the blood and the hair. His arm lay in an unnatural position.
"SOMEBODY CALL AN AMBULANCE!" She screamed. Another person knelt down next to her.
"I-I Oh my god." They said over and over again, a crowd was growing. Everyone staring at the scene in front of them. None of them calling an ambulance, none of them even trying to help. Mesmerised by the carnage they saw.
"CALL A GOD DAMN AMBULANCE NOW!!!!!!!" Hazel screamed again, her tears combining with the ironically heavy rain that just started. She picked up Joes upper body and held it close.
"Stay with me please, I need you Joseph, Remember, I showed you the fort, remember that? Nick got so angry it was funny, or remember the pony that chased you around at a party? Oh, Joe, I love you. Please, I need you Joe, I need you. Stay with me."
Sirens wailed in the distance, but deep down Hazel feared it was too late. She feared nothing could save him now. He looked up at her in a moment of consciousness and smiled. A sweet simple smile.
Then nothing.
