Thank you Marty for sensitively sharing...its difficult, and you made the first step.. I'm a fag like you and I have a drunk BF. He's a social fellow, I am shy. There is an organization called Al Anon to help the family and friends of alcoholics cope. Interestingly, their saying is, "I am powerless over alcohol". Because we are all powerless over the alcoholic's actions in our lives.

@Seanyboy1all I know the feeling. I have no great advice except try to live your life and not let your moms mood and drinking swings make YOU go up and down like a roller coaster. Basically in my experience it does not work to nag your mom or bring up her being a pisshead all the time. Maybe bring it up dramatically once a year and then its up to her. Just don't let her drag you down with her.

Leave him. His alcoholism is a deal-breaker and he needs to learn this.
Slowly open fresh bank accounts and seperate yourself financially.
Live is too short and you only get one. There is no dude with a big-beard at the end waiting to pat you on the head for your suffering. There is nothing else. Go on an adventure of a lifetime. You need it.
