Eliot Spitzer Launches New Television Ad
New York, NY (March 10, 2007) -- Today, Spitzer 2010, the campaign committee of Governor Eliot Spitzer, released a new television advertisement entitled "Patients." The ad focuses on the problems New Yorkers face when dealing with the state's dysfunctional healthcare sysytem. By showing a series of chronically ill and uninsured patients, the ad, like "Crying" before it, highlights why budget resources need to go to patients first, rather than the special interests like 1199 and GNYHA who are distorting facts about the governor's proposed budget.
New York's health care spending is the highest in the nation but fails to deliver the highest quality care. The proposed budget puts patients first by cutting the growth of out of control spending, providing health insurance for every child, and improving the quality of care for all New Yorkers.
The 30-second ad spot, attached here, began airing in homes across the state yesterday.
Script:
Sometimes I can't breathe and I have to wait forever to see the doctors.
VO: 46 billion dollars goes to Medicaid every year.
I worked for fifty years and I cannot afford health insurance.
VO: Somehow we still can't afford to help those who need it most.
I am visually impaired and I can't get the system to see me.
VO: Governor Spitzer's healthcare reform finally puts the money towards patients. Maybe the special interests, spending millions against reform, would like to spend some of that money on them.
