David Hutto, also known as Boondox, is an American rapper from Covington, Georgia whose stage persona is that of a killer scarecrow. He is signed to Psychopathic Records. David Hutto was born in Richmond County, Georgia. At the age of five, his uncle tried to kill him by drowning him in a swimming pool. Hutto was not popular at his school, frequently got into fights and experimented with drug use. He listened to heavy metal bands such as Iron Maiden, Metallica and Sepultura, and played bass guitar in several local metal bands before seeking a solo career as a rapper under the name "Turncoat Dirty". While selling cassettes of his early recordings at an Insane Clown Posse concert, the group took notice of his music, and after several phone calls with Joseph Bruce, Hutto was signed to Psychopathic Records, making him the first Southern hip hop performer on the label. On July 11, 2006, Hutto released his first album, The Harvest, featuring appearances from Axe Murder Boyz, Blaze Ya Dead Homie, Insane Clown Posse and Twiztid. A music video was filmed for the album's first single, "They Pray With Snakes," directed by Bruce, and Hutto toured with Blaze Ya Dead Homie to promote the album. In 2007, Hutto released the extended play PunkinHed. It peaked at #10 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart and #27 on the Top Independent Albums chart. During the same year, he joined Psychopathic Rydas, performing under the name "Yung Dirt". On May 13, 2008, Hutto released his second studio album, Krimson Creek, a more personal work drawing from his past. It peaked at #1 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart, #13 on the Top Independent Albums chart, and #113 on the Billboard 200. Hutto is set to release his third studio album, South of Hell. The Harvest is the debut album of Boondox. Released in 2005, the album marks the first time that Psychopathic Records has released an album by an artist that does not hail from a city. The eponymous harvest is a metaphor for the rewards one reaps at death for all the seeds of hatred and pain planted by others in the "very large field called Life."[1] The Harvest features guest appearances by Insane Clown Posse, Twiztid, Axe Murder Boyz and Blaze Ya Dead Homie. The album did not chart.[2PunkinHed is an extended play by Boondox. It features four new songs, and remixes of "They Pray with Snakes" and "Seven," from his first album, The Harvest. The EP peaked at #10 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart and #27 on the Top Independent Albums chart.[Krimson Creek is the second studio album and third solo release overall by Boondox. It was released on May 13, 2008 on Psychopathic Records. The liner notes included with the album contained excerpts from all 15 tracks on the album, also included was a foldout poster featuring a larger, complete depiction of the cover art. Krimson Creek is a more personal work than The Harvest, with songs inspired by events from Boondox' life, including an incident in which his uncle tried to kill him by drowning him in a swimming pool, getting into fights at his school and experiments with drugs. The final track, "Death of a Hater", was inspired by negative reactions to his music. "Ive read things where Ive had people say, 'I hate him. I hope he dies. I hope his kids die' [...] I pretty much wrote a song about what I would do to those people." The album peaked at number 1 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers, number 13 on the magazine's Top Independent Albums chart, and number 113 on the Billboard 200.
