  • i have had a lot backpacking experience with this stove. The whisperlites that i use are over 10 years old, and they suck. They take a good 15 minutes to boil 1.5 liters with white gas, which is the prefered fuel. I love my pocket rocket over this due to weight and power output. Im not sure if its my shitty old stoves, or just the whole model but i do not like them at all.

  • @rbxtreme96 These stoves do take a long time to boil if the jet gets varnished up w/ older fuel. Clean out the jet and you should be good to go. The newer ones are only different in that the jet and hose can be cleaned much easier.

  • Great clip..does it run on unleaded car gas..? I am looking to get a bottle stove that uses all fuel..looking at the dragonfly because it simmers. If this puppy runs on unleaded car gas..maby.? Thanks for the upload.

  • Check the MSR website for specifics on fuel. As far as being able to simmer, this one can to an extent if you only give it a couple pumps, you just have to babysit it.

  • this thing runs on diesel?

  • Check on the MSR site to be sure, but I believe that diesel is one of the heavy fuels that it can burn with the second jet that is included. I don't have the stove handy to look it up right now.

  • Nice job. Of all the stoves I have had over the years, the Whisperlite remains my favorite. Part of it is sentimental, part of it is because it just works well with no fuss. I like the old school classic look and feel to it as well.

  • I have had this stove 10 years and it burns anything you want to run in it. I have even run nitro from an R/C car and it burned that too. Unleaded, Kerosense, Nitro,,,,whatever u want. Just buy it. You can't beat it. I have a pocket Rocket also and I use my Whisperlite more.

  • does it burn diesel?

  • I've used this stove for many years and it's never failed me. I have the older model. Question? is it okay to transport the fuel bottle with the pump installed? Does it wear out the pump in some way?

  • Thank you. This was very informative. Seeing how low the flame could get with such ease sold me. When you read all the reviews, you can't tell if it is fact or someone's opinion. I am a good cook and this stove will do me fine.

  • nice video. I got my own whisperlite now :D and your video help me a lot. Btw im now using a preheat alcohol method, the stove is more clean now, do you tried that?

  • excellent stove. fine video. no bull

i like the smaller bottles also, i have several all good you nailed it. buzz

  • I believe it does run on Diesel, check the owner's manual on their website and it will tell you to install the K jet when you want to burn Kerosene or Diesel.
