I never expected to watch a video like this, excellent job! I am a Tsingtao boy studying at University of Wisconsin Madison, and I;m working on a paper about Qingdao and the U.S.

I hope I am not too late to reply to you (after 2 years), but trust me, many Chinese nowadays (post Mao Zedong censor in the 70's) know that Americans helped the Chinese during World War 2, ask any of them about the Doolittle Raid in Ningbo and the Flying Tigers and they will tell you about their exploit. There are even TV series about them too (although the Chinese are the main characters of course while the Americans are minor characters).

My dad was a china marine. 1st division. He was part of the occupation of China in 1945-46. Tinsein. He also fought at Iwo Jima.
Funny, I now have a child that is adopted from China.

just finished reading the book, Return to Tsingtao. Most enjoyable. So sad, Harold never reunited with Ming Lee. Were the dead Marines at Loh Shan ever recovered?

Thanks for the info, it seems in many countries history is being taught to develop patriotism rather than true history. I am sure the current Chinese Govt doesn't want the people to know that they were once rescued by the Americans. Look at how the Japanese have treated the history of their action in the war. Too bad our govts could not have maintained a friendly relationship following the war...
When i returned to Tsingtao I had many old address and tried to look up people I once knew. It was hopeless. I even had the house where my teacher Mrs Djung lived but it did no good.
The bodies of the marines were recovered. How I am not certain but I did get in touch with the family of one marine in Oklahoma City. His body was sent back. White Russians are the mystery. I spent years tying to locate families in US and even in Australia. The Russians who chose to return to Russia simply vanished.
