The Best Thing Of All. Act 1 Aria from Marc Blitzstein's Regina. Performed here by Brenda Lewis and the 1958 New York City Opera Cast - a long out of print recording mastered from Mono Vinyl.

Marc Blitzstein's Regina was based on The Little Foxes by Lillian Hellman and when it opened in 1949 originally starred Jane Pickens in the title role and Brenda Lewis as Birdie. When the New York City Opera revived the show in 1953 and 1958 Lewis was picked to play the title role and has made the role her own. The role was created in the Little Foxes by legendary actress Tallulah Bankhead.
