The Teen Advisory Group celebrates Banned Books Week, September 25th-Oct. 1st 2011. TAG reads excerpts from "Lord of the Flies" by William Golding, "Halloween ABC" by Eve Merriam, and "Goosebumps: Scream of the Haunted Mask" by R.L. Stine which were all frequently challenged books according to the American Library Association. Books that are challenged in a school or public library must go through a review process and sometimes are taken off the shelves for content that is deemed "inappropriate". Librarians believe that everyone has the freedom to read what they choose and does not support banning of books.
