Age Concern

Financial abuse of the elderly is a growing concern.

TX 28 Oct 2010~New Zealand's ageing population means that by the year 2020, as many as a third of New Zealanders will be over the age of sixty.

Unfortunately, statistics also show that as many as 50,000 people in that age group have been abused, often by the people responsible for their care.




There's also increasing concern about the number of older people being abused financially ... often the victims are too afraid to speak to anyone else about the problem because the abuser is someone close to them, sometimes even a member of their own family.
