"I laid awake the..." Geez...you'd think a lyricist or a producer could get the singer to sing the right word. "I lay awake..." "Lay" is the first-person past of "to lie" with the meaning of being outstretched and supine.

@sharoney yes, what was so amazing bout singing in the rain was that they had taken old forgotten mgm songs and imagined them into the film in a beautiful and brilliant way

Thanks for posting. This is my grandfather in the clip and his name was Conrad Nagel. It's great to see him.
