MATTHEWS: I love the new slurs when they arrive, what is an arugula middle class?

HOLTZ-EAKIN: Its a not very real middle class . . .

MATTHEWS: . . . is this the cultural issue that you guys are going to raise tonight? That shes one of us and hes not.

HOLTZ-EAKIN: This is about literally connecting with the pressing problems facing America.

MATTHEWS: Do you think these informational questions that Katie Courics been asking have been fair? . . .

HOLTZ-EAKIN: Every question is fair . . .

MATTHEWS: Are the answers she gave good ones?

HOLTZ-EAKIN: She gave, out of two hours of interviews, some questions and answers that may not have been the best . . .

MATTHEWS: Are you saying that CBS deliberately edited out the good answers?

HOLTZ-EAKIN: We believe that there were excellent answers throughout those two hours that couldve been put on TV . . .

MATTHEWS: . . . unemployment has risen under the Republicans.

HOLTZ-EAKIN: We have seen unemployment go up recently . . .

MATTHEWS: Whats wrong with the old Ronald Reagan question: Are you better off than you were four years ago? . . .

HOLTZ-EAKIN: Because theyre not running against George Bush . . .
