Ashok Kumar Bharti, a born Dalit (or ex-untouchable), is the Chairman of Indias National Confederation of Dalit Organisations (NACDOR). He is the Founder/Convenor of World Dignity Forum. Closely associated with the Global Call on Action Against Poverty (GCAP), he is the Convenor of GCAPs Global Task Force on Social Exclusion. Educated in India and Australia, he considers social exclusion rooted in race, caste, religion, gender or disability as the greatest threat to the democracy. Here he speaks after attending an international poverty hearing in New York.
