It is a pretty video produced for the Bell Telephone System. It's described step by step how it was made an old Bakelite phone composed by 433 parts (year 1947). An animated cartoon character named "Tommy Telephone" showed us how that phone was assembling itself to marching music. The video is didactic and funny. Right now it is plenty of nostalgia.

  • Very entertaining!

  • Does someone know the name of the composer of the music that starts at 4.22?

Do you know at least the name of this piece? Thank you very much.

  • "Your" telephone? Wasn't this back when Bell owned the phones and you rented it from them? My dad got a nice red hotline phone as an RCA plant was closing. It says "property of Bell System" on it. Ha haaaa! :P

  • Great to see how these differ from the British Bakelite telephones of the same vintage.

  • my dad collects them and does them up and sells them on ebay they are allover the house check out my channel in a day or so im making a video about my dads addiction.

  • Me too!! The 302 is cool!

  • what a lovely way to make money to aid the Great Depression.

  • I absolutely love the look on the guy's face @ 8:53 when "Tommy" does the Indian rope trip w/ the line cord. Hilarious!!!! Incidentally, I own one of those 302 phones; & of course, it still works perfectly!

  • AIEYYYY! Bell Telephone is in league with the Devil! How else could this conjuring trick be performed?

    ps: nice video :)

  • Great video! Thanks for posting this! The handset is the only thing made of bakelite. The early (1937-1941) models had cast metal housings and the later ones (1941-up) were made of thermoplastic.
