Well, I just got through it now, at a real postal outlet. The lady working had NO problem getting it through. When I mentioned the bit about the 7-11 employee catching the flap, this other employee tried, and couldn't even do it...

Some do in my city... However, my dad, who works for the post office, says they're all pretty useless.  partially because they have new employees every other week.
