For the right to go on to the gold medal game, Canada and Russia had to go to a shootout. Canada won 2-0 but give major props to Russia. Easily the most exciting game in recent memory and an amazing way to start the new year off!

  • @SPB282008 Eh well, you are right. Though you could argue that the players we do have are pretty good; for what we are and USA hockey, it's not too shabby. Though you are right in saying that Canada churns out those players year in and out. However, our junior programs are really catching up to you guys, so who knows what the future has in store for both programs.

  • @AFredCalledFred It did make for one heck of a gold medal game, so props to Canada for that!

  • @nikebauer1993 USA beat us in the preliminary round because Brodeur decided it would be fun to play the puck every time it came withing 10 feet of him. Notice how much we improved when Luongo got put in net.

  • @barbarian92 Yes but on both of those teams a Canadian player is arguably the best. It's debatable with the Devils because Brodeur is normally their best player but has not been playing as well lately. Bobby Ryan is good but Getzlaf and Perry are better.

Although you are right, the future of US hockey will probably give Canadians a run for their gold.

  • @AFredCalledFred I did watch the Olympics, yes. Maybe the Olympics is a better showcase of talent, but the WJC also showcases the future of these country's hockey players. Canada did win the Olympics, and props to them, but the US' silver medal shows that we are up there.

And re: your point about the NHL teams, we have a lot of up and coming talent that are on the teams. Zach Parise and Bobby Ryan are some of them.

  • @barbarian92 did you watch the Olympics? This is the World Juniors. The Olympics is what really shows who the best is.

Also, in almost every NHL team, a Canadian is either the best or one of the best. A note-able exception would be Detroit. But their best players are definitely not American.

  • @barbarian92 we had 5 u-17 teams. you guys only played our best province, and it was still a pretty close game. i was there!

  • @barbarian92 totally agree our junior team this year was over confident they need some competition

  • @choppergunner123 They are so dominant that they conceded a goal in the olympic final with 18 seconds to go? And so dominant that SWITZERLAND took them to a shootout, and so dominant that the USA beat the in the preliminary round??? YEAH that sounds dominant???? HAHAHHA

  • @choppergunner123 it's in the past. you're starting at 0 consecutive medals, we're starting at 1. bottom line is, the world and hockey in general is starting to catch up. we have to earn it now.
