Finally... a Metallica cover again. Been a while, huh? This is the first cover of an original Metallica song I've done in over a year. Sorry, I've just had a lot goin' on. In my opinion, this is one of Metallica's best, and is the most challenging song in their catalog in terms of picking endurance.

This video is my property. This video is not to be used in whole or in part without my written consent. The audio still belongs to Metallica, so you have ZERO permission from me to use it, and must take it up with them.

This is just a cover, call it educational or whatever you need to; I'm not violating any copyrights. If anything I'm promoting Metallica for free... so don't be stupid and flag this, Youtube. Fair use, son.

As is normal, figured out mostly by ear (with a bit of confirmation and proof-listening by HeavyMetalSonicRM), so sorry if it isn't the "official" way of doing it (read: Suck a fat one, Wolf Marshall).

Feedback is always appreciated.

  • Beautiful cover, truly.

Ok i just read information about your gear. And what are you plugged into? Straight into pc by some guitar processor or your signal go through amp first?

  • @Kemek12345 Thanks. I run my guitar through my effects pedal (a Digitech RP2000), and plug that directly into the mic input on my computer.

  • dude i must say awesome you definately kill em all i have a question how do you record your videos i just got a webcam and the picture is awesome but the sound sucks its a logitech hd so what i did was shut off the mic on the cam and micd up my amp but now i cant hear the music in the background im pissed i have so many songs i want to do can you please help

  • @metalhead9210 thank you very much! i definitely know your frustration. i spent a couple years (since i started playing guitar, really) trying to record various ways. you're on the right track. the simplest way to do is to use a DAW like Audacity, Sonar, or Cubase, import the song you're covering, and record your guitar over it. that way it's all synced and everything. export that audio as an .mp3, and mix it with your video in your video program (Sony Vegas is what i use).

  • I've seen James use that body before, I'm curious because I really like it now, what's it called?

  • @ProtossHydralisk it's a Jackson KE3 Kelly, but as Ryan pointed out, James has never played one, at least not on stage.

  • @ralph110281 i have a theory that if you DON'T feel like your arm is on fire at some point during a set, then you aren't playing hard enough.

  • @FadeToPuppets a lot of dedication, anger, and love for music.
