On Oct. 7, the college held it's first Difficult Dialogues symposium. The topic was the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the college brought two speakers to campus to offer their viewpoints. We spoke with some of the most influential people surrounding the campus debate of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to see what their reactions were to the symposium.
Marc Ellis, the keynote speaker and director of Jewish studies at Baylor University spoke first for 45 minutes, followed by a 10-minute response from Sanford Gutman, professor emeritus of Jewish history at SUNY-Cortland, and a half-hour session of questions, which were submitted by the audience on cards and read randomly by Chip Gagnon, chair of the colleges department of politics.
