Teens charged with murder in Wylie attack

WYLIE — Five teenage boys stand charged with murder in a savage attack on a man in Wylie. Police say they beat 28-year-old Jonathan Bird to death because he asked them to slow down.

But few who knew the five suspects could imagine them committing such a horrific crime. Two of the teens were attending an alternative school in Garland. Teachers describe both 17-year-old Ethan Dorris and his younger brother as good students and anxious to join the new basketball team.

Four of the five teens are 16 years old, and most of them have been in and out of schools across Garland and Wylie. Friends say one of the boys dropped out and another attended Wylie East High School.

"I never thought anything about the kids," said neighbor Laura Seale. "I was worried about the kids, especially the little one, but I didn't think anything was going on with them."

The teenagers apparently all knew each other from hanging out in the same Wylie neighborhood, where outrage Monday night was strong for such a brutal killing.

"What these kids did was senseless," said Bird's fiancee Codi Duer. "He didn't fight back because they were kids."

Friends say the boys did not always make the best decisions. But the friends of the Dorris brothers deny that they have any responsiblity for the beating death, describing it as them being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Still, all five teens remain in jail at this time.

What a bunch of punks, wish the victim had a 45 and shot the little sub-humans preferably in the head. My heart goes out the the young man (victim) his family and loved ones, and hope some one returns the favor to the five piles vulture vomit responsible for his death.
