@MrHoppers002 I still think we'll get there. Robert Heinlein (of all people) speculated in a 1952 essay that spaceflight could fall into disuse after early efforts, only to be revived eventually. It seems the old Grand Master saw further than the rest of us did. Again.

and that journey was cut short 45 years later.

I watched this episode for the first time 45 years ago tonight. After the broadcast, I walked outside into a CA desert night,...and heard rocket engines being tested at Edwards AFB, miles away. I looked up at the stars and thought, "Damn, we've already begun the journey." Big thoughts for a 14-year-old kid.

Was this the trailer for an old Wiggles movie or something?

i hope the rumours of gary mitchell being in the next star trek film are true

I wish I was about 35ish when this started. so i could have been on it and been a love interest for Spock...or Kirk if Spock decided to be stubborn.
if i was lucky, i might have been able to get to know Leonard Nimoy, instead of just being one of the millions of fans that are almost all the same

what's the episode where Spock goes blind temperarly?
-
that was left over from the first pilot...

In my opinion the best Star Trek episode :)
Gary should have been in the new movie too, dammit!

Fucking amazing dialogue. I wish I was alive when this was airing. I kind of feel like I missed out on the whole phenomena of Star Trek.
