Human Rights First and our allies are fighting back. Our "Close Guantanamo" campaign aims to set the record straight and encourage further progress in national security policies including Guantanamo but also questions of torture and prisoner abuse that are also under attack.
The problem today is that our enemies no longer fear us .Our weak politicians are terrified of American soldiers being seen on TV actually hurting people. To eliminate terrorism, we need our military to be as brutal and ruthless as it takes to get the job done, and make sure those images are broadcast on every TV and computer screen in every third-world toilet of a country in the world. I'm not advocating EXCESSIVE violence; but every ounce of violence as is required.

In WWII, we bombed the hell out of our enemies, and everyone else who got in the way. today we are trying to persuade weak governments to root out terrorists. They can't, they don't really want to, and, ultimately, they won't. We need to have the same mindset we had in WWII: find the enemy; bomb the enemy... eliminate their ability to do us harm.

***Well then they've won: we're terrified***
He! Speak for yourself, lib. You'd have an ounce of cred if your theatrical faux concern for America's reputation wasn't so blatantly contrived.

***Do you believe in America***
I believe in America, the way you believe in the Taliban.

Again, I'm firmly aligned w/you; help me find just a piece of the "large chorus of moderates & liberals" to which you refer. If its growing, fine, help me find the well-fertilized garden. For the record, I love sarcasm & I agree in its ability to move opinion, however, I urge you to do it better. Hire the right people who are funny, incisive & sharp as hell - get a director who can assemble it right & let 'er rip. I'm worried - the entire XMAS Bomber reeks; more staged fright theater for dummies

During World War Two we stuck to our guns AND in our belief that American principles actually mean something.
And we won the war.

Do you believe in America or don't you?
SailorBarsoom 2 years ago
Basically, we're being told by the Right that we have to abandon our principle or the bad guys will get us. That's not patriotic. And it's not brave.
Think about it: we can't act like Americans because we're afraid of the bad people? Well then they've won: we're terrified.
Let's stand together and say it loud, say it proud: AMERICA WORKS!
We don't have to throw it all away because "I'm 'tared!"

If the ONLY thing we do is sarcasm, yeah you're right. But I think that a large chorus of moderates and liberals showing some "BIG, BRASS AMERICAN BALLS" as you put it will be a powerful message. And I think that sarcasm can be an important part of that. Not all of it, not by a long shot, but a part.
