This unit falls under 3rd Special Forces Regiment (Sri Lanka Army Special Forces Regiment). They along with other Special Forces units & Commandos (Sri Lanka Army Commando Regiment) played a vital role in eliminating the terrorists from Sri Lanka.....

Sri Lankan LRRP units have been successful in carrying out attacks behind enemy lines. Operations are carried out using small groups, which go into and out of enemy territory clandestinely through jungle routes and seek their targets. These groups may stay in safehouses or camp in the jungles until they are ready to take their designated target. Many of the attacks launched by LRRP units targeted high profile terrorist leaders, and were carried out in the manner of roadside ambushes.....

The Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) is a covert operation (black op) unit of the Sri Lanka Army. My grandfather was in Vietnam 68-70, he was 4th Infantry, LRRP, RTO.. he was 23 when drafted. His nickname was mouse, he wore black and white tiger camo's and flew with the BlackJack's... in 68 or 69 not sure week or month, Stars and Stripes took a photo of him returning from mission, he turned away, but it became the cover image for that issue.
