  • Ralph Towner has always been one of my favorites for many of the same reasons that Bill Evans is my favorite jazz pianist. The main reason being that their technique serves the music and not the other way around.

  • classical technique, jazz rhythm and, individualistic harmonic concepts, what a master.

  • Go and hear the "Solo Concert" album in ECM. It is a masterpiece.

  • wonderful!!!

  • EXCELLENT!!!

  • Yes, One of the greatest

  • He creates both beautiful and melancholy feelings in this interpretation of a very fine jazzballad. And I really like the sound in his guitar.

  • It's fascinating to hear the references to Lenny Breau - I hadn't thought of it before today. But, as artist Francis Bacon would have said, "there it is". Lenny and Ralph as a duo - it can't happen now, but the thought is inspiring.

  • written by Jule Styne

  • I wonder if he ever played with Lenny Breau? Very similar take on this piece.

  • The nylon string guitar is the most expressive, balanced, and versatile guitar. Its just a pain in the neck to amplify.
