ABOUT DAVE SMITH
Dave Smith is an American audio engineer who arguably played as large a part as Bob Moog in the development of the modern synthesizer. Smith's Sequential Circuits created many revered synths, including the Prophet 5 ,the first microprocessor-based synth. Smith also proposed the MIDI standard in 1981, which has been incorporated into nearly every synth in the last 25 years.

  • VERY HOT

  • Very cool!

  • Are these the same "CEMS" chips from the late "70's and 80's,that were discontinued, and no longer being manufactured?. the same one's he used in his "Prophets" from the "70's"?.

  • The dave smith ones use curtis voltage controlled LP filter chips.

the evolver has 2 of them in true stereo and the mopho has one.

  • cool thats where my mophos and evolver were born :D

  • THANKS DAVE!

I own half of your product range. :-)

  • As a sophomore engineering student and DJ, Dave Smith has inspired me to become the best engineer possible, and to never lose sight of my goal to become and audio engineer. I can't wait to get out into industry!!

  • I remember when I first actually heard a Prophet 5: John Harrison's score for the film Creepshow, not sure if it was equipped with the curtis filter but it sounds like it.

Anyway, Dave Smith is the man. Looking forward to the new Prophet 08!!!

  • Can anyone answer this question. the new retro synths...

that emulate the vintage synths, from the 70"s and 80"s

does anyone know what "Sound IC"S" they are using? back in the 70"s and 80"s,the CEMS and the SSM"S where being

    used,what is used today?
