Hey There!

Thought I'd share an idea I've been working on the past few hours for a song from my debut album which is in the writing process now. It's still pretty rough and the solo section is still being written.

Great band lined up - I just need to finish writing all the material now!

Let me know what you think. I used the SSV+ bridge humbucker into the Mesa Boogie Express 5:25 with the BB preamp on the clean channel, a little bit of compression and a Mesa Boogie 4x12 Cabinet IR in Logic Pro 8.

Hope you enjoy it - I'll try to finish the album soon.

Cheers,

Tom

  • Is it just me or do your come out so much better on your guitar? Tomorrow I'll be joining the Suhr owners club btw :)

I can't wait to get my hands on your first solo release, man. I'd be pretty awesome to get a 1:1 lesson with you one day!

  • Yes! Dude - I can't wait to hear you playing a Suhr! Congrats on getting the modern. I sent you a reply on the mambo (i think it was) track - send me a PM if you still want to send me it. Looking forward to more of your videos - Rick and I were watching them over the weekend! Hope you're good mate.

  • Awesome stuff as always Tom, what HD camera are you using to capture your footage? I'm considering getting either a Sanyo HD700 or HD1000, maybe you have one or the other?

  • Cheers mate! I actually use the HD700 for everything. It's great but if you can afford the HD1000 or one of the newer models go for that as they have a larger lens ad better low light performance.

  • Hi. I just discovered your channel and I love your playing! I play the guitar myself and would love to hear what gear you used beside the gorgeous Suhr guitar, namely what amp and what pedals.. I would love to get a similar Howe'esque sound. Any helpful suggestion in terms of gear, pedal or settings??? Thanks so much

  • Hi mate. I use a Mesa Boogie Express 5:25 head with Toadworks Lil Leo and Texas Flood pedals and an Xotic BB Preamp. All recording info is in the description.

    Cheers!

  • i can hear guthrie govan :)

  • i can hear guthrie govan :)

  • hello Tom. finally; is your album for sale? the name of this song?

  • ah that tone! D-8< how do you get it so full with such a little ammount of overdrive... I wonder how it would translate playing live with a band instead of a quiet backing track, and the clarity on the low strings on those speedy runs man, well done! This isn't my style of music but you can make some excellent stuff.

  • @tq105 Oh yes, awesome sound, but so different than the classic British sound ,I noticed that there is no typical break up tone, rather smooth overdriven and creamy. My Boogie Mark IIB combo sounds similar with BB Preamp.I personally like your sound better with clean amp overdriven just to the beginning of breakup.

  • I totally dig the whole Extraction-like feel.

  • its guys like you always giving me something to shoot for in my playing

  • its not a song because it doesnt have any words, its a piece of music
