Here's a time lapse of drawing 22 pixel art monsters for an RPG I was making over the previous weekend for the Ludum Dare (a 48 hour game development competition) . The project failed and I couldnt get a proper game finished on time, but it was a pretty cool challenge. Ill put a time lapse up and maybe even a playable demo once I get around working on it some more. I just thought the monsters time lapse was prolly the part that stood on its own the best, so here it is!

All of these monsters were initially drawn during my livestream! The initial idea was to give myself 10 minutes for each monster design. I ended up drawing the first 17 monsters in just a couple hours! Later on I went over them again to polish, clean up and detail, which you can also see recorded here.

I did the remaining 6 monsters on a subsequent stream after the Ludum Dare competition where I gave myself a lot more time on each design (those six are the frog, the hairy monster with its tongue sticking out, the haggard-looking fat man in a wifebeater shirt and the flamethrower fish monster).

I was originally taking snapshots every 2 seconds, then played a 20 FPS for the timelapse, but the result was a 23 minute long beast of a video, so I sped up a lot of the detailing phase that you see on the latter half of the video where I go back and polish each of em. I put the 22nd monster at the very end all by itself, I thought that made for a good conclusion...
