I think he's made a wonderful musical theatre voice out of this training. Nessun Dorma is a song that needs a 30+ year old singer singing it, and that's what's lacking. And also, since he is a pop singer originally, he DOES need continual training before you get an opera sounding result.

yeah, quaint but get real. People need to listen to any of the popular opera singers and gain some perspective. Seriously, fire up Spotify, search for Nessun Dorma and listen to what properly trained singers can do.

@PintofGreenTea Exactly right. Couldn't agree more. Just accept his voice for what it is-ok but not operatic-Its not Joe's fault I agree but the stupid media who hype everything up and label him as something he's not. Enjoy whatever you want but get things into perspective. He is not an opera singer. He does not possess the body to develop into a true opera singer. He's a boy,with a strong voice for his age but has much growing both physically and mentally to do. Fame,after all,is fleeting.

Well, one can't say that it was a surprise winner, but at least it was the correct winner. Nothing against Cheryl, bless her she's just brilliant in her way, but Joe is a better operatic singer and that's what this competition was about.
Congratulations Joe, it takes a lot to handle the pressure and defend a favourit - stamp from beginning to end without one single down performance, but you did it.
