This is Jacare Violão, which is one of the ensembles within Jacaré Brazil at the University of Florida. The guitar, perhaps the most common musical instrument in Brazil function as both, a soloist and accompanying instrument, transformed from Iberian forms of punteado (finger picking) and rasgueado (strumming) styles. Our instrumental ensemble explores diverse combinations and textures. The vocal group portrays the nostalgic sentiment of Brazils interior and its natural beauty by reaching beyond traditional forms and instrumentation. Jacaré Violão members: Juan Cendan (six string), Dan McCoy (seven string), Silvio dos Santos (six string), and Welson Tremura (six string) performing Villa-Lobos Suite Populaire Bresiliene (N° 1 Mazurca Choro) arranged by André Campos.
