It's difficult for Zachary to do the "traditional" baby or ASL sign language because of his spastic hands and arms. So we try to teach him certain signs to do "his own way". Renee taught him "please" and "juice" in just a few minutes and he picked up on it fast. He's known how to do "more" for a while. Zach's sign for "more" is his fist moving up and down. Renee taught him "please" with his hand opened and put to his stomach. "Juice" is his hand opened and put towards his mouth. While he's learning the signs proper usage, we prompt him for them and he delivers, which is a great breakthrough in communication. It's been more than a week now and he's telling us what he wants with his signs without us prompting him.

  • i am trying to teach my 6month old daughter sign language we are working on more lol she doesnt get it yet

  • @Lezziegurl143 good luck! We know how difficult it is to get them to learn it! But once they catch on, it's amazing

  • I'm so happy to see you enjoying so much success with Zach and sign language. It has been a really nice way for us to communicate with our son, too. BTW, when Mom asks Zach to say "thank you," is it just my imagination or does he look like he's trying to make a "th" sound with his mouth?? I hope so. :)

  • yes, he is using the "th" sound to say thank you! not your imagination at all.

  • wow, this video had me completely out of breath.. how wonderful! I personally've been a little lost, workwise. just took a job for a job, but not happy, and not sure what my talents are, other than speaking several languages and working hospitality industry. I watched your Zach here, and felt all warm and fuzzy.. Will have to take a look at his. NOthing more beautiful than children. And boy, to be able to learn HOW to assist a child "stuck in his body" learning to get out and express himself?
