LOLOL I never really thought about it, but yeah, Chuck Brown does kinda have a raspy, gritty similarity to Isaac Hayes!!
Higher register, though. Hayes (R.I.P.) could sing bass, and i've never actually heard Brown do it. Tenor, yes, but not bass.
