I love MATTIE WILLIAMS-HARPER! I thank GOD that these songs and singers have been recorded. I'm loving it. I used to hear these records as a kid; and see some of these singers in church. I definitely appreciate those moments and won't soon forget them.

She was born and died in Tennessee. First recorded with the Sallie Jenkins Singers of Philadelphia (a group that included the great Eugene Burke of the Rasberry Singers). Then recorded with Bradford before Marion recruited her to replace Esther Ford in the Stars of Faith. She had considered going into pop music though I never heard her sing it. After Marion left, Mattie liked to sing 'Surely God is Able" and "Traveling Shoes." As I said "Sit Down Servant" may be her best record.

Oh Thank you so much appetancy, always wondered about where she came from and such! You can tell by her voice she was from down south!
