tribute to preacher created by garth ennis, steve dillon and glenn fabry Preacher tells the story of Jesse Custer, a down-and-out preacher in the small Texas town of Annville. Custer was accidentally possessed by the supernatural creature named Genesis in an incident which killed his entire congregation and flattened his church. Genesis, the product of the unauthorized, unnatural coupling of an angel and a demon, is an infant with no sense of individual will. However, as it is composed of both pure goodness and pure evil, it might have enough power to rival that of God himself. In other words, Jesse Custer, bonded to Genesis, may have become the most powerful being in the whole of living existence. Custer, driven by a strong sense of right and wrong, goes on a journey across the United States attempting to (literally) find God, who abandoned Heaven the moment Genesis was born. He also begins to discover the truth about his new powers, which allow him to command the obedience of those who hear his words. He is joined by his old girlfriend Tulip O'Hare, as well as a hard-drinking Irish vampire named Cassidy.

  • Preacher = Win of galactic proportions.

  • I agree. The characters in Preacher are one for one amazing. Each, including villains such as Starr and Jody have a lot to teach you and you get to love them. And bullshit about being 15, of course you can handle it, maybe you won't understand some stuff but you'll be ok

  • God bless Arseface

  • Now I admit , I find Garth Ennis 's Writing to be hit & Miss But The best part of preacher is The Cassidy revelation. You either want to pity him or to spit on his face in disgust.

Herr Starr really has no luck, but I think shit keeps happening to him because, cleverness aside, he is too impulsive. Instead of trying to meet Jess, the guy organised a friggin kidnapping which of course ended horribly...

So yeah it was not perfect , but by God if it was not a great ride! Recommended!

  • GOD as dislike 2 times :)

  • I don't read much comics. and I got some of these from some woman who was throwing them out. Anyways, The only good story I've read so far was the one where he goes back to his home town. The rest are pretty boring

  • I need to read the whole series again...and look at the pictures!!!

  • Preacher is my favorite comic series that doesn't involve superheroes in it and my 3rd favorite comic series of all time (behind only Spider-Man and Batman).

Garth Ennis is a comics god who gets slammed way too unfairly. Aside from this he has great series like The Darkness and Punisher MAX. A lot of people think from reading Hitman or The Boys that he hates superheroes, but this isn't true: "The Thousand" in Spider-Man's Tangled Web Volume 1 is a great example of what he does for the genre.

  • @Androidindisguise You bet your ass it's about maturity. I'm twelve and I friggin love it. Also I'm religous, but the religous stuff doesn't bother me.

  • I'm 12 and read Sin City and Punisher MAX and understand them well and really enjoy them. So I think I can handle Preacher.

  • @JamastaEYIN Vertigo 90's stuff? Hells yeah.

Image, and anything by Leifeld? The very worst. 90's was a decade of extremes, best on one hand, worst on the other.

  • ok, lets face it. who here would do anything to be jesse custer?
