Installed an Airaid® Throttle Body Spacer on my '04 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon; doesn't do much, but hey- it's a mod, it sounds cool, and I felt like it.

  • its supposed to help only the low end torque. like up to 3000 rpm. it makes no horse power so I'm told but creates torque. which helps acceleration. its supposed to give you better low end torque and increase fuel mileage a bit if you don't go to nuts with it. good for speed but not 1/4 mile time.

  • @aaminjoshi91 Ehh, not exactly. It's made to spin incoming air, which is supposed to increase density and flow... the faster the intake, the greater the effect.. which would mean more power at higher revs. In ANY case, it doesn't. Whatever the theory, in practice it does nothing. I doubt you would even see a difference on a dyno. A few degrees in air temperature makes a bigger difference than throttle body spacers do. Like I said, all it's good for is the sound it makes.. nothing else. :-)

  • @AcidRain64 well man, anything can be said to make it sound right. i confirmed this what i said with airaid. either way for people who want actual performance it does nothing.

  • @aaminjoshi91 Agreed :-)

  • @AcidRain64 NSX00000 does not understand its a JEEP THING and nice mod man keep up the Jeepin!

  • @AcidRain64 loooooolll Win.

    Mine redlines at 4K RPM's :D

  • Oh yeah, also in line with what you said.. I routinely get up to ~4500rpm when driving. My engine sees a good range of RPMs daily. I'll keep it low and cool, cruising at 1400rpm, and occasionally I'll jump it up when passing or performing some other maneuver. In other words, this "ring" is probably not well-defined and thus not something I need worry about.

This beast is just fine even now, 3.5 years later. :-)

  • @blazinloud Appreciate the input. To reiterate what you said, whether redlining will cause any damage depends on a LOT of factors -- especially time. This motor was pretty young at the time of shooting this video. Second, it also depends on things like quality of components, materials, efficiency/cleanness of combustion, engineering quality in general. In my opinion, redline damage is really not something to worry about unless your engine is pretty old and/or very weak/cheap.

  • not all revving is bad, if the engine is used to it. the ring on the combustion chamber made by the pistons normal operating range can be damaged causing low combustion and blow by tho. the piston creates a ring at the top of its stroke over time and red lining it CAN and will damage it.

  • @NSX00000 thats the 4.0 inline 6 you retard, no trouble to worry about
