impossible story....Sometimes , I meet Leopold like guys(but not obviously like Hugh Jackman) in real life and they really surprise me. They sound and look like coming from another planet ;)

@magnolik There isn't a time machine. There is a "ripple in time", that Kate's ex-boyfriend calculated would appear near the Brooklyn Bridge at rare, but predictable times. They had to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge to go through the "ripple in time" at just the right moment. At least, that's the way I understood how the time travel worked in this movie. Maybe someone else could explain it better. :-)

@kkbronson you forgot one detail: they had to jump to build up enough speed to fall into the wrinkle and it actually work.

@RockytheAwesome I mentioned they had to jump in my reply to magnolik, but I don't think they HAD to jump. Remember Hugh Jackman fell when the "thing" (I don't remember what he was on when he was trying to keep Kate's Ex from going into the river.) broke. It's splitting hairs, but I tend to pick apart things, too. ;-)
