Open letter to Norwegians and the Right Honorable Jens Stoltenberg

http://whynotnorway.wordpress.com

To Norway, or not to Norway?
That, my dear friends, is the question.

And I address it to Jens Stoltenberg, The Right Honorable Prime Minister of Norway, besides pretty much the world at large

Norway is an amazing Scandanavian country at the edge of Europe, beautiful with icebergs, Fjords, hills, rivers, sea, sun and sand, in Spanish mar y sol & mar y carino I set my sights on this beautiful country this summer, to enjoy the Fall as the Norwegians call it, in Oslo, Bergen and beyond on the fabulous rides and treks. That was September 10, 2009 when I applied for the Norwegian visa. We were rejected six days after our application and informed of the same on the 13th day, via a letter.

Letter of rejection from Royal Norwegian Consulates Ms Anne Fure
My response to Ms Fures letter (furious indeed)
I received an email from PANA CONFIRMING Government of Norway and Schengens discrimination
Why were me & my family rejected by Schengen/ The Government of Norway for a visa?

Just because we were Pakistanis! Bravo Schengen / Government of Norway!!! As philosophers and leaders of FIRST WORLD you have successfully DISCRIMINATED in no less mean or base terms a poorer country. You would happily entertain a pauper from America, just because the guy has a US passport! But with our USD 10,000+ income you consider me and my family worse then paupers! Bravo indeed!

What if you lost your wealth somehow? What if the EU went broke? Which is quite possible in the recession today, how would that impact you? When poorer countries of today start rejecting your citizens the way you reject ours?

Think, is this what enlightenment, education and freedom really brings you? Is this what your teachers and scholars taught you?

I am a world peace activist, (www.ahappyworld.info) besides my group One World-One Religion on Facebook a multidimensional person with a lot of achievements in life (http://imranokazmi.wordpress.com) and I alongside my family were rejected on a basis we didnt have any control over (our place of birth/passport)

Why?

Why cant we go and visit Norway? Were going to Turkey next week now, but wed have loved to spend the same money in Oslo, Bergen and beyond, why not?

I invite the good people of Norway, EU and world media to start a debate on this topic.

Do we really need borders in todays internet borderless world?
Do we really need to highlight religion, nationality, sect, color, language, culture and so forth as basis of discrimination, or simply differences to be cherished and enjoyed?
Do we really need to put the poor countries in their place by the rich through visas and similar show of strength?
Do we really need to take pride in our race, religion, color, wealth or other perishable perceived advantages?

Join me, www.ahappyworld.info lets make this world bias free, whether I get to go to Norway or not

Cheers,

Imran O Kazmi

  • I don't see why you are unwilling to accept that your country is considered a "higher risk" in terms of illegal immigration. How are we to know that you are in fact just a tourist? It is prudent to be careful, and we already have too many Pakistanis here today.

  • Hello Imran, you seem to be a little bit confused and perhaps more than a little angry.

Let me correct your claims about discrimination. You are not a citizen of Norway, you have no rights to visit or live here. That should be easy enough to agree on.

An American would not fare any better than a Pakistani applying for a visa, if Americans actually had to apply. We have strict rules to ensure that visa applicants have the financials means needed. Most Americans coming here won't be a problem.

  • it's an unfortunate situation, but you can thank your fellow pakistanis who have moved to norway before you. their actions in norway have burned the bridges for future pakistanis who wish to visit norway.

  • ???

  • Amazing what happens when policy is directed by fear. Not the first time a group is marginalized; the freedom of movement is a right. Norway is using the justification of 'terrorism' to restrict some people's movements. Your right, 'loved in one country, hated in another. I was lucky to have an Iranian roommate, an Afghani boss and a Hindu adopted uncle, because the propaganda doesn't fly with these kind of life experiences.

"It's not the immigrants that is the problem, it's the norwegian population". Ja, selvfølgelig. Det er jo fakta! DUST!

  • norways relationship with pakistanians is kind of a touchy subject. ask any norwegian or pakistani-norwegian. take a-gjengen or b-gjengen as an example. these are pakistani crime syndicates thats been running the streets of oslo for more than 20 years.

its sad that these situations leed to rasisme, but i can't say im shocked.
