the old viva engine was a dog the victor engine would had been a better option as in the bedford.

@kernals12 because they are both GM products...

Funny, but in America, we didn't get the AM/FM radio, standard clock, and a "real boot". In fact, in the base US edition, the back seat was an option (!). Sounds lik the brits got the better end of the bargain.

I liked them...but not a fan of the asthmatic 1256 engine. a 1.6 option should have been included on the non-HS ordinary versions.

AKA the Vauxhall Shove it.

@kernals12 Vauxhall Chevette released May '75. Chevy Chevette released September '75. Vauxhall Cavalier released '75, Chevy Cavalier released '82. The exception to this rule is the Nova, but Vauxhall were using astronomy designations already (like Astra) when their Nova was released.

why did Vauxhall name their cars after model in Chevy's range? For example, Vauxhall Nova, Chevrolet Nova, Vauxhall Chevette, Chevrolet Chevette, Vauxhall Cavalier, Chevrolet Cavalier

I'm surprised that Vauxhall still had the Chevette in production in 1983, considering that the Astra entered production in 1979, and the supermini Nova had just entered production. Then again, they were still building the Bedford HA van!
As for the Chevette's styling, while it looked the part in the 1970s, It looked a bit 70s throwback by the 80s. Here in New Zealand, the Chevette was replaced in 1981 by the Holden Gemini - which while still a T-Car, had a 1st Gen Astra look facelift about it.
