Big Buddy Baker. He looked more like a linebacker back when he drove. 177.602 miles an hour at Daytona in 1980 and breaks 200 miles an hour at a closed course at Talladega in 1970.

He'd have been a champion, but running the #15 would have been a championship team. Like father, like son, both he and Buck were winners.

My dad was a native Tar Heel. I think him and a friend of his told me a story about Buddy when he drove for Crisco.

They told me he was called the Crisco Kid. Someone asked him, "Buddy, do they still call you the Crisco Kid?" and he was supposed to have replied, "Not anymore, now that I'm losing they just call me lard ass."
