Colin O'Roarty sings Danny boy.
In Loving memory of my Father Colin O'Roarty known in the WMC's as Colin Dale and to his family as Connie who sadly passed away in November 2007. He sings this from his heart and it brings tears to our eyes everytime we listen to it. Please leave your comments, Rate the video and would be interested in comments if you met him. He never really knew how good he was. But he was a true irishman with a heart of gold. He is greatly missed by us all.

  • Hi Aaron, I was saddened to hear of the passing of your father. Back in the 60s he was known as Colin Dale and i was the Bass guitarist in the backing trio (The Boston Movement) the name came from the Pianist Joe Boston,. We had some riotous times i have to tell you! Although i never met you, i remember he had a daughter called Donna(?) and his girlfriend at that time was Diane. If you can get an email address to me i have some recordings i could send you. Regards, Al Todd

  • @supertoddy1000 Thank you please geel free to get in touch as this is the only recording I have of any of Dads songs, I would really appreciate it. Yeah he has 3 off spring, Me, Donna and Nicky. my email address is aaron@oroarty.fsnet.co.uk it will be great to hear what you hav, thank you for getting in touch.

  • Having now listened three times, I will say Mr. O'Roarty has risen to the top ranks in my book, and more for his soulful, tender-sweet treatment. I'm sure he was a wonderful man, for it clearly shows in his song..

  • Thank you so much for your kind words my father was an amazing man who never really knew how good he really was. He will always be missed but never forgotten, I'm sorry for your loss too.

  • Thank you, you are so kind, he was an amazing man a true gentleman

  • Weatherly wasn't American. He was an English songwriter and lived and died in England. The tune which is Irish was sent to him by a relative in the US and he fitted it to the words which he'd written several years earlier.

  • @AngryWTF The original song was written by Fred Weatherly in 1910 and was called "Eily Dear" he was in fact an American and lived in New York though he was English born. The lyrics were changed around 1915 to recruit the Irish into the first world war and is generally disliked by Irish nationalists. The tune is called Londonderry air which is a very old Irish tune. This most certainly is not a tradirional Irish song and in fact has nothing to do with Ireland other than the tune.

  • a great song from a great singer..greetings
