This is the penultimate Cyrillic alphabet lesson in the series, and covers the last two letters; the hard and soft signs, which have no sound of their own. It remains for Huliganov to round off next time by putting the letters in the order you will find in the dictionary and show you some peculiarities in the hand writing.

As ever, Huliganov finishes off the lesson with a joke and a song. This time my daughter helps me do a request from one of my loyal viewers.

Chords for the song:

Cm G7 Cm
Eb Bb Bb7 Eb
C Fm7 Bb7 Eb Edim7
Fm7 Cm G7 Cm

Let me just give a brief translation of the words:

"I used to be this odd, nameless toy which no-one came to look at in the store. Now I've got a name - Cheburashka, and every pooch on the block offers his paw to me on sight.

I was out of luck at the start - once I even had a birthday party and no-one turned up. Now I'm partners with Gena, he's extraordinary, he is - the best crocodile in the whole world."

  • When you talked about the hard and soft vowels near the beginning, you left the two dots off the top of the letter "yo". I see that a lot in written Russian. Is it just a mistake?

  • @Imnothecrazyone Many Russian keyboard don't have it and you can often read Russian texts where you don't see the two dots and are expected to know which ones have two dots.

  • Oh my goodness! She's a chip off the old block! A lot prettier, though. You guys can go on the road (The Von Trapp family singers...). Krasniva!

  • @Batyaboo I prefer to go before I leave the house.
