Been in love with this song since first hearing it - or, at least, first becoming consciously aware of it - in Blood Simple when I was a kid. It seemed so very strange in that movie, and yet so perfect at the same time. Hats off all round.

@edr1882 actually this song was made when after some drinking the lead singer and another band member went out drinking while they had a deadline for a new song. the other member sat down and played a song.. then backwards. the same old song is the one he played backwards. so the same old song is indeed the same old song.

@505twiztid Now as much as I agree that Lil Wayne is a no-talent hack, it's not fair to compare him to the Four Tops since they're two completely different genres from different eras.
Not an opinion that people on this video will agree with, but there are plenty of talented rappers out there who just aren't in the mainstream. Lil Wayne is in no way, shape or form representative of the genre.

@pookybear270 You give credit to wrong people. Four Top DID NOT write or produced their songs. All their songs in this era were written and produced by Motown's prolific production team of Edward Holland, Eddie Holland & Lamont Dozier knowns as Holland-Dozier-Holland or HDH. They're the ones who wrote & produced I Can't Help Myself, and they're the ones who were pressured to come up with a new song, and delivered "Same Ol' Song. It was Lamont Dozier who came up with the name of the song

True, but in all fairness, younger people are more open to old music than old people are open to new music. I'm 38 and as guilty as anyone.
