So... Can Time Lords tell their own species apart from one another with regenerations and all?

@tsnyder700 Yes. This was covered in the series 3 finale with The Master being voted Prim Minister and such. You'll recall when the Doctor, Jack, and Martha walked into the square and saw Harold Saxon on the large screen, the Doctor instantly knew it was the Master because Timelords can tell who is one and who isn't, just like they can see fixed points in time and such.

@CernyJakub That is because Professor Yano (The Master) was a human. He was not a Timelord. He did that biology-reorganization thing were he became human. Just like the Doctor did earlier in that series.

@DollaCoinVeVo it cannot be River Song because we saw River's death in the second part of the two episode bit Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead. So it cannot be her. As for Sarah Jane Smith, it cannot be her either, since she was never allowed onto Gallifrey during the Time War, which is when the Timelords are kept in loop.

@Monkofmagnesia The writer Russell T Davies said that she was the Doctor's mother but was happy for fans to make their own conclusions. She's still alive because like the Master she was resurrected by the Time Lords for the Time War. Its all in The Writer's Tale.

it was told in the old episodes, that doc's mother was human, his FATHER was a Time Lord. and yet, his mother is still in some kind of very high rated gang... ? WHAT?

Just a small point to add, While Russell Davies (no T) is a bit of an ass, the woman for all we know could actully have been Romana or another Timelord from the Dr's past that isn't documented. It is infact not spesified wether we may have known that Timelord in a previous regeneration as Male. The only thing we can be sure of is that they are a Timelord and are probebly hiding their face in shame for allowing Rassilon to return.

@kibaxasuma I know that, but there must be some other way how they recognze each other. With smell, or something like that :D No matter if he had his mind in those watches or in his brain, he would sill look the same. So they use telepathy or nose to know each other. :D

I know the writers said it was his mom, but wouldn't have made more sense for it to be his granddaughter Susan becasue when she left the TARDIS she went back to Gallifrey
