This new performing arts venue will host a 1,000-seat theatre auditorium, a chamber music hall with a 300-seat auditorium, a studio theatre with 200 seats, rehearsal rooms, office spaces and workshops.
The Musiktheater Linz will be home of the Bruckner Orchestra under the direction of the American conductor Dennis Russell Davies and rehearsing until now in a nearby building on the Danube. The regional theatre, the Landestheater Linz, one of the best companies outside Vienna, will perform at this new space as well.
The main stage will be based on a large transportation revolve, having 32 m in diameter. This revolve includes 3 15m x 4m elevators having two floors each and a small revolve being 15 m in diameter. In the range of the elevators there will be 3 compensating frames. They can be fi xed to the large revolve in order to allow its circular motion or they will be fixed to the elevators to allow the vertical movement of these. The clear height between the upper and the lower floor of the elevators is 9m. In addition to the elevators there will be 3 stage wagons with a footprint of 15m x 4m. The overhead machinery contains 44 scenery bar hoists, 8 heavy duty bar hoists, 4 up- and-downstage bar hoists and 25 point hoists.
WOAH, I can't even begin to imagine the possibilities in a theatre like that!
