Before building our facility, Buddy and Sylvia toured many of the central Florida area kennels. Observing both the good and not so good aspects of each facility we visited we asked questions of the owners and operators as to what they would do differently if they had the opportunity to do it over again. We then included the best features of each into the plans for Happy Tails Boarding Kennel to create a comfortable, functional "Home away from Home" for the pets of people who wish to have them cared for...not just stored while they are away. As you walk into the reception area, you will immediately notice that this is not your ordinary boarding kennel. It's painted citrus and chocolate. It has pet friendly furniture and toys everywhere. The reception area is arranged so that two pets never have to be close to each other if they don't want to at check-in. There is an ante-room as you first walk in that you can slip into to avoid unpleasantries. When you walk through the reception area, you will next find yourself in the catroom/calming room where compatible pets are allowed to play together. Also, that's where a new arrival can go to sit with the staff until he or she gets used to the area. We go to great lengths to make your pet feel welcome and at ease, even going so far as to sit in a run with him until he's ok. Progressing further, you will see the 4 foot by 4 foot indoor accommodations. These are heated and cooled as necessary for complete comfort. Each comes with a large comfortable bed and food and water dishes, or you can bring your own if you wish. Through the door to your left, you will enter the indoor/outdoor area. We have eleven 3 foot by 14 foot indoor/outdoor runs and eleven 4 foot by 14 foot indoor/outdoor runs. Six of the 14 feet are indoors and heated or cooled as necessary. Through the doggie door you find the other 8 feet which are all under roof. There is a chain link gate that allows your baby to look outside and see what's happening. Outside (where everyone stays as much as the weather allows) are about 18,000 square feet of fenced, dig protected playground, broken up into 10 different areas where pets play in supervised groups of compatible individuals. We will however honor any request for supervised individual play. Our goal is for your pet to have as much fun on his vacation as you do on yours...if not more. We really do care for pets!
