My wife has a 1995 Merc C220 with nearly 400,000 Ks on the clock ok. And she swears she gets 1000 ks for every 50 litres of deisel she puts in. Which, if my calculations are correct means that she is averaging 56.82 mpg 1000 ks divide by 1.6 = 625 miles. 50 litres into gallons (all UK ). 50 divide by 4.546 = 10.998. So, 10.998 divide by 625 = 56.82 mpg. That has to be good. Anyone else getting near that figure with the same car? Deisel costs $8.27 per UK gal here in France as of now. Not bad??

@pattycarljackson Different countries get different engines depending on the market. Most cars in the UK (and Europe) are diesel so economy is always better.

This is bullshit. None of the cars get anywhere near the economy stated.

@TheHornyHomunculus They are the official government figures and can be achieved, otherwise people would sue the government over false advertising! This is kind of outdated now though, the new VW Polo does 91 MPG!
