  • Mady Mesplé (7th march 1931) turned 80 two months ago.She was about 40 years of age when she recorded this aria, she must have been at the height of her career, this is power, purity and perfection only. What a breathcontrol! Really 10 out of 10 ! Bravo Mady! Greetings from the Netherlands.

  • @jcriedijk Bravo indeed. Thank you.

  • Brava ! J'en pleurerais tellement c'est beau. Est-ce l'enregistrement de fin 1970 dirigé par Lombard ?

  • Oui, Ochestre du Théâtre National de l'Opéra-Comique 1971. Alain Lombard, directeur. (Dans le disque Opéra Passion I, EMI Classics)

  • Very beautiful, indeed! Oh, Jesus! That's singing. Forget about Justin Biebers, Gagas and derivatives...

  • So beautiful, with great elegance and style, and with warmth you don't usually hear in this kind of voice.

  • just great , there are no other words for this rendition!

  • I'd never heard of her. brilliant.

  • What grace, what elegance, what beauty! Words can hardly describe such an amazing interpretation. For me, she will remain Lakme forever. Depressing for the singers who try to rise up to this standard and for the conductors who try to find somebody who can...well, at least we have this recording!
