  • Recently visited the place myself (November 2011) - absolutely fantastic and very interesting time thanks to Mr Todd! Always a fan of the '111!

Great video of your shots - must think of doing something similar with mine!

    Thanks for putting up

  • Lived there as a dependent from 1969 to 1977, then stationed there when i joined the AF from 1986-1989. It is heartbreaking to see heyford this way

  • can you just walk in there? or are there still people around?

  • Thanks so much for the pics! I was there 83-85 Victor Alert. You really took me back...... thanks again.

  • @TJOPootertoot I was F-15 AIS (48CMS Green Dragons) at RAF Lakenheath 05-07. same bldg# as UpperHeyford (299.) Bomb shelter renovation was finishing up when I got there. Brit contractor put in tile that was 'Salmon' and painted the walls same. As bad as the old Brown and off white was, painting over the murals and making the place pink was every kind of wrong. They even killed the integrity of the place. We had to wear chem gear during exercises and the decon Showers were used for storage.

  • I worked in Bldg 299 30 years ago. You probably have a shot of the room, the CORNER of the room, in which I worked the automatic test stations for the 20th CRS. Surprised they left so much equipment behind in that and other buildings. Is it still a giant carpark, otherwise, or are the satellite pictures obsolete?
