Christophe Boulier showing a dazzling display of technical skills in the Ernst. The variation starting at 5:05 is ridiculous.

  • oh i love this sul tasto :)))))

    sounds like a panflute :)))))

  • Although I am awestruck by the sheer transcendental quality of the perfect execution of this monstrously difficult piece, the sad thing is mostly only string players will really understand the real difficulty level of the piece. Next to this video, I see a link to Yanni's "The Storm", which has over 6 million views compared to this video's 50,000. People there are commenting how cool that video is, although that is completely CHICKEN SHIT to what is achieved here. Oh well, popular culture...

  • what for an amazing work! and that peace is so difficult and awesome!

  • This title is a part of bonuses of this DVD " Les 24 Caprices de Paganini " available on the web page of christophe-boulier

Thank you for having indicated it!

  • Absolutely wonderful, and I have yet to see another violinist that plays at such a strange place over the fingerboard. I'll have to try that myself sometime :) I will say though, that at times the echo effect seems detrimental to the listener's ability to hear all of the multiple voices. For example, Midori Goto, Hilary Han, or Gidon Kremer's performances tend to be easier to pick out more of the subtleties.

  • Holy shit. And it's not even like I don't know the piece...

  • i can't believe all those sounds (voices) are coming from one instrument at the same time. it sounds like atleast 5 or more violins. I'm engrossed by this amazing godlike demonstration of skill.

  • Freaking amazing

  • Still the best version of this piece on YouTube IMHO. His manner of holding the violin reminds me strongly of Leonidas Kavakos, who also holds his violin sloping downward with the left elbow very close to the torso. Both are amazing violinists!

  • wow there's so much impossible things he does in those variations, but the most special one is for me the double-stops hormonics!!! its so hard to get the precision for one, but 2 at the same time... thats god-like XD

  • Wonder how he would stack up against N

Paganini? Hahn plays this a lot more straight, but she misses a plunk.
