  • And just another comment about Trower and Hendrix. Trower was a huge fan of Jimi from Robin's days with Procol Harum when Procol and Hendrix played a lot of shows together. 2 of the greatest...in fact I'm going to see Trower in 2 nights down at Toad's Place in New Haven CT, returning to the scene of the crime so to speak. The same city this was recorded in all those years ago...I can't wait!!!

  • Robin Trower did not imitate Jimi Hendrix. He emulated him. Stevie Ray Vaughn imitated Hendrix but his own material was never in that style. But Trower could think like Hendrix without having to cover him & apply that style to his own material.

  • Great comment!! I agree...

  • Is there live footage of the flower hour. Love the CD but would really like to see him playing this; hell the whole CD.

  • Live footage from the Flower Hour? No, unfortunately, not that I know of... :(

    Just the audio...

  • Thought so; I think some of the best work they did would have loved to see it...

Thanks for this and all the other music you have posted...

  • My pleasure. Glad you are enjoying the tunes. 8-)

  • @bondurango Agree as well. Trower was very careful never to learn other player's songs note for note. He just took elements of their style and incorporated them into his own. And he always used that phase shifter, heh, heh..

  • love this tune ^5/wynn

  • i saw robin back in '77 at the comack arena on long island, boy did he smoke that fuckin guitar, he played for about 2 1/2 hrs and he just cranked out one song after another, yes, he played some hendrix, but he was paying homage to him, not copying him or misrepresenting his music as hendrix's. his style was very similar to jimi's, so how could he not sound like him, hes still playing today!!! ROCK ON!!!

  • When I came upon this it blew my mind. I lived in Conn a short distance from New Haven from 75 - 79 and I was at this concert. This was a great concert. Thanks for posting this, brings back memories of when music was awesome.

  • @judedelux No No NO! what you're struggling to say is that Jimi Hendrix was 10X the musician that SRV was. SRV was NEVER a better guitarist because he was NEVER the best of HIS DAY like JIMI WAS!!

  • The Blues is the only thing emulated , if we consider, everybody i.e Jimi, SRV, Trower, all learnt from Albert King & Otis Rush..especially Albert was copied because those sweeping 6 fret bends from 3 mins in here were his alone. The Blues is the ONLY link. Trower says his real inspiration was James Brown & Hendrix came from that same base only with Curtis Knight, Little Richard & The Isley Bros. Love Robin's solo here from 3 mins onwards.

  • Trower and Dewar..They Fucking ....ROCK!!!!

  • Incredible drumming! And it just accompanies the vocals, guitar and bass so well!!!!
