If the bees ever got to a point of extinction, we would step in and genetically engineer them, if we don't already do that. Science is way too evolved to be worried about that. The real worry is that we might not notice with our own selfish lives distracting us from nature that we need to help the bees. This doc is a good start though. LOL

Got propolis?!? We must get to the bottom of CCD and work responsably towards its correction. Clearly the problem is advanced and complex. It is the horrific things we can't even yet see that troubles me the most.

@ergoplex Well congrats for keeping bees! And well done for acknowledging the difference between a theory and fact (evidence backed theory). I understand that anecdotal evidence is more powerful when one witnesses it personally... but nonetheless it's still anecdotal.

@dmg46664 hmm... I suppose you are right... IT'S KIND OF LIKE RELIGION, WITH NO WAY OF PROVING THE THEORY!!! (lol) However, I relate my belief on blaming pesticides on CCD because I actually keep bees and have had absolutely no problems with them, and I am surrounded by organicness. However, friends of mine deliver bees to this orchard and the orchard is sprayed with chemicals, and they get tons of problems. That's why I believe what I do, but im open to being proven wrong :)

@ergoplex You're right! We CANNOT say chemicals are the SOLE cause. BUT we cannot say either that chemicals have anything to do with the decline at this stage. It is a valid THEORY, but with no supporting evidence. The only evidence so far that has been found is what I mentioned. We might find that chemicals are the only cause in the future, can't rule out anything. But it's irresponsible to make claims with no evidence (either first principal or statistical).

@dmg46664 I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree... True, we cannot say that chemicals are the sole cause of CCD, however, it is one very large cause. And at any rate, I personally believe that the way farming is nowadays (monocultures, pesticides, etc.) is the primary cause of the death of bees...

@TheLucypolo There is no evidence that chemicals are the main culprit at this stage. "researchers announced they had identified a co-infection of invertebrate iridescent virus type 6 (IIV-6) and Nosema ceranae in all CCD colonies sampled". Crying wolf on the WRONG diagnosis is not helpful! You'd be better off convincing people to direct Carbon Tax money at this problem which is more immediate and dangerous.
