I love this play - partially because I can relate to Rita. I'm a scouser in my first year at uni; struggling with my work, but loving the literature and the tutorials all the same - even if my tutors do say my essays are rubbish. Whenever work gets me down, I just remember that Rita made it, and so can I. I think that all students should read it/watch it. It's a real comfort.

love it love it love it! I soooo utterly understand Frank being so frustrated with life at the uni. People studying literature can drive you crazy with their 'I'm sorry, Dr Bryant, but I can't agree. To dismiss William Blake as a dead poet is "faseel". (Facile)'

Michael Caine is wonderful in this, so is Julie Walters. One of my all time favorite movies.

I became a fan of Julie Walters after seeing this movie back in the 80's. I still love it , own it and watch it today. The story was great but Educating Rita, in my opinion, could not have been as great without her.
